All play and no work makes the SMA MASTERCLASS fidgety. Time to start the day with a live “Japanese Manga 101 — The History of Manga”. So many charts, graphs, and pictures to learn from. But now the MASTERCLASS are armed with new knowledge to conquer the manga world…or are they?

Time for lunch at the restaurant Sora ZENON. What better way to spend the time than eating and talking about manga.

HERE…COMES…TSUKASA HOJO-SENSEI!!!!!!!! Hojo-sensei has a special manga paneling class only for the MASTERCLASS. It looks like Andrea is captivated by Hojo-sensei’s class. Now she can take what she learned here and what she used in her manga “My Childhood Dream” (SMA6) for her next big series.

SMAC! THE WEB MAGAZINE’s Taiyo ends the workshop day with a lesson in the six emotions (Happiness, Anger, Sadness, Surprise & Fear, Hate, and Anxiety) and KSTK (Ki-Sho-Ten-Ketsu). The MASTERCLASS are hard at work mastering the emotions and story writing. Let’s peek in on Kjati practicing the six emotions. Maybe he’ll get some inspiration from his manga “Faithful” (SMA3).

The night is still young but we’re absorbed in drawing. So we order Demae (delivery food). It’s a tradition for manga creators and editors to get Demae in the office when crunch time is near. Now the MASTERCLASS have joined that tradition too. The MASTERCLASS now have full stomachs, but their heart is hungry for books. It’s time to explore secondhand bookstores around Tokyo. There’s too much we want to see!

It’s not everyday Hojo-sensei gives advice to up-and-coming manga creators. We want you to join his class too by becoming a MASTERCLASS member.
Every legend starts somewhere and we want to see yours unfold with every SILENT MANGA AUDITION® entry!
